What do you mean when you say a PSS20 is a “sacrificial” coating ?
PSS20 anti graffiti coating is called ‘sacrificial’ because it “sacrifices” itself, or it is removed itself in the graffiti removal process . You should be aware that not all sacrificial systems are created equal. PSS20 is the only system that can guarantee that 100% of the coating will removed with the graffiti. Many older generation wax based sacrificial systems have a nasty habit of remaining in the pores of the wall after removal of graffiti and therefore cannot really call themselves 100% sacrificial and can remain indefinitely in the pores of your brick, concrete and stone.
Where would I ideally apply the PSS20 sacrificial system ?
You would use a sacrificial system when you are only interested in protecting the “3m” waistband around the base of your property i.e. from ground level up to 3m or 12 feet high from ground level. This is favourite the attack zone for most opportunistic graffiti vandals .
Where else would I use a sacrificial anti graffiti system?
Many public bodies and authorities worldwide who look after national treasures such as monuments, castles, churches etc specify PSS20 as their protection systems of choice because it is incredibly safe and non invasive. It removes itself when not wanted by the use of hot water only . Remember PSS20 isn't even classed as a chemical it’s a food. Safe to use in kindergartens, schools hospitals and PSS20 cannot pollute the environment as it contains no toxic ingredients whatsoever. You only have to look at our database of reference projects to realise the national treasures around the world protected by PSS20.
What happens if my dog or cat licks a wall treated with PSS20. Will they get sick or die?
The most likely thing to happen any animal licking PSS20 is that they will get fat. It cannot possibly harm any flora or fauna. We named our company after PSS20 - it’s the most “ethical anti graffiti coating” on the planet and we’ve checked this.
So how does PSS20 really work?
If we were to give you an image to think of PSS20 it would be that of a “microscopic invisible football net” . The mesh of the football net isn't made up of string though, but in this case the net is formed from super strong polysaccharide chains. When its sprayed on a wall in two coats the PSS20 looks like wallpaper paste. It dries in a few hours to be invisible and imperceptible to touch. Because the PSS20 polysaccharides are like a net they allow your surface to be fully breathable allowing water vapour to escape as normal . PSS20 will then wait there until such time as a graffiti vandal comes along and sprays graffiti over it. Remember the graffiti vandal doesn't know its there as PSS20 is invisible. Because the PSS20 “net” is there the harmful paint pigments cannot penetrate and damage the stone brick or concrete which almost always happens on an unprotected surface.
Once the graffiti vandal has done his or her work this is when the “football net” of polysaccharides earns its keep. Remember the football net ? Well when you warm the PSS20 up with hot water, usually a hot washer and in a few short minutes the microscopic football net of polysaccharides disintegrate and with it the paint as well. 100% paint removal without the use of chemicals - see our video below of a graffiti removal in action .
Is PSS20 just a one trick pony?
No PSS20 has loads of hidden talents. PSS20 while being the worlds best (we think so !) anti graffiti sacrificial coating, also protects against acid rain, salt damage from roads and airborne damage and acts as barrier against all sorts of airborne and waterborne dirt and grime.
So after a graffiti attack, what do I do once I have hot washed away the PSS20?
Just reapply PSS20 in the areas where its been removed and you have full protection again
How long does PSS20 last on my walls ?
Between 4-5 years. After that we recommend a booster coat. This is easily done as you will remember PSS20 is applied at ground level.
Can I use PSS20 to protect my floors against stains and paint spills?
Remember PSS20 is sacrificial, its designed to come off, so you wouldn't put it anywhere where people or traffic could “rub” it off or abrade it off over time. It’s a tough coating and is happy on practically any vertical surface but it can’t take footfall.
But some wax anti graffiti systems are cheaper?
Yes wax can be cheaper in the short term but many traditional waxes have some serious issues such as a nasty habit of leaving a two tone look on your walls and of leaving toxic residues in soil and watercourses during a graffiti removal process. We are not saying that all waxes are bad but we feel if your budget allows it you should use PSS20. It’s the obvious ‘ethical’ choice.
Swiss Expertise:
The Swiss aren't just famous for expensive watches, ultra tidy towns and trains that run on time. Switzerland is also home to some of Europe's leading science companies. One such company, PSS Interservice of Zurich has developed the PSS range of revolutionary coatings and surface protection products.
These include a revolutionary anti-graffiti coating which isn't a chemical at all it is a polysaccharide. The product which is know as PSS20 the coating when it is sprayed on walls is made entirely of plant polysaccharides. By being invisible and allowing the substrate to breathe the PSS20 coating will only act when it has been attacked by graffiti. Thereafter all that’s needed is a hot washer and hey presto the graffiti simply flies off the wall - no harmful residues - no toxins and no nasty solvents .
If you’ve ever wondered how the continentals can keep their towns and city so clean and new looking, we think its due in no small part to their love affair with the revolutionary abilities of the PSS range of surface protection products
